"Oops, I re-did it again..."

I was blog-surfing tonight and visited our friends' new blog, The Gumps, (check it out everyone) and I was inspired to spruce up our blog. I'm SO impressed with how quickly they got their blog together! They even have a video... So, it was time for a little blog-lift. Let me know your thoughts!

Ok, so this website, yearbookyourself.com, is hilarious... My friend Emily has it on her blog, so I started messing with it. Coy and I uploaded our pictures and laughed forever about this... I think we would have made a great couple, no matter what year we met! You have to do it... it's so fun. Also, I'm going start making all of my blog titles, song lyrics, so enjoy!

It's a "Doggone" Shame- UPDATE

Well, ole Bays is struggling with his injury, and in his haste he decided to rip out all of his stitches last night. SO... today he got to go back to the vet for STAPLES! AHHH! I'm starting to wonder if he is masochistic. I hope he's not enjoying all this pain! He'd have to pay a visit to Uncle Matt for a psych eval...

We have a new friend to blogwatch! It will probably be awhile before Tucker is up to blogging, but Laney arrived today at 2:36. She is 8lbs and 4oz and has RED hair like her Aunt Ashley! So fun. I can't wait to meet her! So, keep your eyes on the Brisiel blog because I bet there are going to be some cutey, little, cuddly updates!

It's a "Doggone" Shame

Well, I've never had to write/type "Dog Gone" before... options: Dogone, Dog Gon, Dog Gone. Anyway, that's not the point. Poor Bailey Booster (as Coy's dad, Dr. Scott, calls him) has had a rough 24 hours.

Background info on Bays: He has had a very cush, loving, sheltered life. He has hardly ever even been told "no". This is for two reasons. He is REALLY smart and never does anything wrong and because he is a TOTAL scaredy-cat (pun intended) and so we try to refrain from freaking him out.

So, here's what happened: Coy was playing with Bailey and Ophelia in the backyard last night and our wonderful neighbor, Wiley, opened his gate to let his dogs come play. They ALWAYS play together. Wiley and Allison's pups are SUPER sweet, so this was not their fault at all. They have a precious Border Collie named Rowlin and a Golden Retriever named Lilly (and a Yorkie named Rufus, but he's not a part of the story). They were so excited when Wiley opened the gate that they came running through without noticing Bailey waiting right at the gate for them. He got run over in the excitement and started yelping. Poor Bays had a big gash on his him. We think maybe one of the pup's toenails caught him. We gauzed and bandaged him last night and took him to the vet today...

He got some little pink stitches, his teeth cleaned, and his toenails filed... and he's totally freaking out tonight. We feel SO sorry for him. This emotional stress is going to take him weeks to recover, but now we can let him kiss our noses (his favorite spot) because his breath doesn't stink anymore! The vet said his poor feet will be more sore than his hip. So, we're babying little Bay Bay and trying to keep him calm as his anesthesia wears off:)

On another note: I would really like to let everyone know how WONDERFUL Shelby Lynn's Bakery in Springdale is. We needed some cakes donated for the Children's Safety Center event so we went to both Rick's and Shelby Lynn's to discuss donating. Rick's Bakery wouldn't let me talk to anyone and said they don't donate product... period. Shelby Lynn's donated ALL 15 cakes for the event! They were ADORABLE and DELICIOUS! So, you can imagine that Kate C. and I are a little riffed and Rick's and are both very impressed with the generosity and community spirit of Shelby Lynn's. Being drug reps, part of our job description is to buy tons of food from bakeries, so we're dedicating our dollars to Shelby Lynn's and we think YOU should too:) That's my mission today:)

CSC Success!

Thank you to everyone who attended the event Friday night! It was a success and the turnout was more than we expected (hence the beer run at 9!). I hope everyone got to see the video and understands the importance of this organization. Thank you to everyone who gave their money and time to help out... Casey and Ta did a great job. Like any event, it's easy to get caught up in the stress of planning, the decorations, the schedule, but when it all comes together and you're reminded of why you are putting your energy into something, it's SO worth it! Boom Kinetic was a hit, as usual, the food was tasty, the prizes were awesome and the company was even better! Thanks everyone!

Hello Bloggies! I'm Baaack!

Ok, so I'm sorry to you blog addicts for not updating in awhile... there are a few reasons. 1. Thinks haven't been THAT interesting (which is not an excuse to a true blogger, so this will be good:) 2. We have been super busy, not doing fun things 3. I'm addicted to the new Twilight book series that teenage girls are crazy... it's SO good. Anyway, enough with the excuses, let me tell you what we've been up to!

The first football weekend was a GREAT weekend. My bestie Rachel, and our friend Ryan, came to town and stayed at our house. We spent Friday night having a game night with Matt and Julie and the rest of the fam. Scene It is a blast for those of you who haven't ever played. We went to the first game, always an exciting day, and went to my bro's house after. I forgot my camera, so I didn't feel it was blog worthy...

I got to go into the cath lab that Tuesday, which I also meant to bring my camera to! I scrubbed in for 5 surgeries with a local cardiologist and LOVED it. I was really nervous I might get woozy and pass, but it was really fascinating. Those would have been great pics... I was scrubbed in head to toe.

Last weekend was Melanie Massanelli's wedding. All the girlies came to town and we celebrated Kit and Mel all weekend! Cody snapped some good pics of the weekend. The rehearsal dinner was at Ella's and she had her ceremony at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and reception at UARK Bowl. It was a crazy couple of days, but I loved seeing my friends! Kit and Mel are SO sweet. The wedding had a very warm and happy feel...

Coy and I decided to use our fondue pot last week! (his idea, don't make fun) It really was something different and exciting. We used the Coq Au Vin recipe that the Melting Pot uses. It's a broth that you can cook veggies and meat in! We did squash, zucchini, mushrooms, steak, chicken and shrimp... yum, yum. It was much easier than you would think and added some fun to our work week:)

Coq Au Vin (in case anyone want to try)

Ingredients
3 1/2 cups vegetable stock
1/2 cup Burgundy wine
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
2 green onions, sliced


Directions
1Heat vegetable stock in fondue pot until it begins to simmer.
2Add all other ingredients, bring to simmer.
3Place individual pieces of desired meat or veggies on fondue fork and put in pot until correct temperature has been reached. Lobster and shrimp may take under a minute to cook while beef and pork will take slightly longer. Take the necessary precautions so you don't eat raw meat.

We thought it needed a bit more flavor. I would suggest marinating meat, or at least adding some salt and pepp before you cook. Also, add more garlic, more wine, and veg. bullion cubes to the broth. Enjoy!

Bunko was this week too! For you girls who missed out, it was FUN! Claire had all kinds of tasty treats and we played Bullsh*t instead. It was really pretty funny. Our Bunko group has a "more the merrier" policy, so if any of you girls are interested in coming, just let me know! We'd be happy to have you:)

Small Hands, Big Dreams

Hi friends! OK, so here's the deal. I'm on the committee for an upcoming fundraising event, benefiting the Children's Safety Center. This is an unbelievable organization and this is their premiere event! It's called "Small Hands, Big Dreams" and is going to be held on September 12 (the Friday before the Texas game-away) from 7-11 p.m. The tickets are $50 and include heavy appetizers, drinks and music by BOOM KINETIC (formerly known as Molten Lava- so fun!). So far, there is a great turnout. I think it's going to be a blast!

So, let me tell you what the Children's Safety Center is: The CSC comes in as the advocate for children who are victims of any kind of abuse, most commonly sexual. Children are taken to the safety center where they are greeted with bright colors and a warm play place. There are also rooms with double sided mirrors and dolls for children to show the "what and where" of the crime. So sad. Then, there is another room where the medical examination is performed. The CSC would like to hire a psychologist to have on staff for these children to have a more complete experience before they leave the center. The mental health of these children has to be damaged after an experience like this. Please help us reach this goal!
